Baby scrubs!

Twelve days after our first visit to the Neurosurgeon, I took Nate to CHOP King of Prussia for his first MRI. The neurologist had talked to Nate about the MRI at our last appointment…she told him that MRIs were pretty easy as long as he could lay still for about 45 minutes. He was excited to be able to pick a movie to watch while he was having the test done, and on our way to the appointment debated on what movie he would pick. We arrived and filled out our paperwork and we were quickly called from the waiting room to the triage room, where they had Nate's kid scrubs to change into for the test. If you know Nate, you know he’s incredibly tall for his age. At 10, he’s nearly 5’4”, wears men’s small-sized clothes, and his foot size clocks in at a men’s 10.5. I laughed under my breath at what those scrubs would look like on him.

He struggled and squirmed his way into the scrubs and hell-bent and determined, got himself into them. He then requested a modeling session where he goofily posed for pics while we waited for the nurse to come back in. When she did, she told Nate that they were going to try the rest without IV contrast first and if the pictures came out okay, they wouldn’t need to do the IV. They explained that it felt like being in a spaceship, and he had to lay as still as possible, but it would be pretty quick if he could do it right. He got the big binder of DVDs and made quick work of picking Pitch Perfect as his movie choice (he’s got a HUGE crush on Anna Kendrick). Then they worked him off and about 45 minutes later, he was back to me. He stayed still enough that the on-duty staff saw no need for IV contrast because his pictures looked clear. After we extracted him from the too-small scrubs, we were allowed to leave and were told to expect a call from the neurologist with the results. Everything seemed good so far, and my confidence was building again that there was nothing overly concerning to worry us.
